We are the Kawartha Lakes Stewards Association, a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization of cottagers, year-round residents and local business owners in the Kawartha Lakes Region. The Association's programs include the testing of lake water for phosphorous, clarity and E. coli bacteria and research and public education about water quality issues. KLSA has partnered with universities, colleges and governmental agencies to conduct research studies and produce publications, including our Annual Water Quality Report, and our recent report: "Our Kawartha Lakes: Part, Present and Future:, which will be available at the Spring meeting.
Our May 11 meeting at the Bobcaygeon Community Centre will include a conversation regarding the health of our important Kawartha Lakes, presentations and scientific inquiry, KLSA activities, including water quality trends and lake monitoring programs. We will discuss what other residents and Lake Associations are doing to protect and enhance the Kawartha Lakes. Our featured Guest Speaker will be Dr. Jim Buttle, Professor, School of Environment, Trent University. Dr. Buttle's presentation is "Lake Ide Dynamics and the Kawathas: Climate Change at your Dock.
